Cue up some kind of cool celebratory sound, Sgt. Jones. The long-rumored Police Academy remake appears one step closer to becoming a reality.

Entertainment Weekly confirms that New Line Cinema has hired Scott Zabielski – best known for helming episode of Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 – to direct the comedy, which still lacks a cast and a release date. Zabielski is actually a reserve police officer in Hollywood.
The first Police Academy hit theaters in 1984. It went on to spawn six sequels.
